Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) in Boulder, Colorado

The Guerra Fisher Institute was founded by Drs. Frank Guerra and Daniel Fisher with a vision of creating a nationally known medical practice devoted to the care and treatment of complicated and treatment-resistant psychiatric patients. To that end, every patient is treated with dignity and respect. The Guerra Fisher Institute is located at Boulder Community Health, which is a not-for-profit community-based general hospital in Boulder, Colorado. We provide Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) services upon written referral from another psychiatrist. The practice welcomed Dr. Christopher Reyburn to its medical staff in 2014.

The Guerra Fisher Institute offers an exhaustive evaluation of each and every patient. This comprehensive assessment includes a review of diagnosis, prior treatments, and response to said treatments. Recommendations for further diagnostic studies and therapies are then outlined. Our recommendations include, but are not limited to, psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, complementary and alternative modalities, and, when indicated, ECT. It is important to note that many of the patients seen by our practice are advised to try treatment alternatives other than ECT.

If there is not an adequate response to those suggested treatments, then ECT may be the next step.
